muhsin bilyap (b.1951)

the plump and beautiful seljukian and ottoman women now strolling only through the miniature paintings and in the wall tiles, accepting my invitation, took part in my paintings and only after some long and tiresome discussions they unanimously deducted that I was a “new miniature painter” such a naming I owe it to them. It was about the same days, that came shahrazade with her one thousand one night tales, then I saw one thousand one night tales, then I saw one thousand one coloured kilims and carpets in the caravansaries, then I rubbed my handsto the fascinating Iznik wall tiles, then I was anchanted by the turkish fabrics and their textures, then I stared at the Islamic art with respect, then the last master of turkish miniature painting Levni was wawing hands at me. from the distance of two hundred fifty years, than I saw the profiles of the petrified hittite gods and one stormy night I painted all of these paintings.
so here we come, here we go.. hello
